Ammonium perchlorate

In the aerospace industry, ammonium perchlorate is the primary component of solid rocket propellants. It supplies the essential oxygen needed for fuel combustion—typically hydrocarbon-based materials—and releases vast amounts of energy to propel rockets. It is also used in certain pyrotechnic formulations to create unique visual effects. However, due to its explosive nature, stringent safety precautions must be implemented during production, storage, and handling.

      Physical properties

It is a white crystalline solid with a density of approximately 1.95 grams per cubic centimeter. It is soluble in water—specifically, a certain amount of ammonium perchlorate can dissolve in water at room temperature—which makes it particularly valuable for applications in water-based systems.

      Chemical properties

Perchlorate is a strong oxidizing agent. When heated, it undergoes a complex decomposition reaction, which can be represented as: 2NH₄ClO₄ → N₂↑ + Cl₂↑ + 2O₂↑ + 4H₂O↑. This reaction is highly exothermic and can react violently with reducing agents. As an oxidizer, perchlorate may trigger explosions upon contact with flammable or reducible materials.

This product is a general-purpose chloroprene rubber synthesized via emulsion polymerization, using sulfur as a regulator and chloroprene as the monomer. It is equivalent to DuPont's GNA-type and Japan Denka's PM-40-type chloroprene rubber.

Sodium chlorate

Sodium chlorate is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula NaClO₃. It appears as a white powder and is highly soluble in water. Known for its strong oxidizing properties, sodium chlorate is a potent oxidizer commonly used in the production of matches, fireworks, and other products. Additionally, it exhibits disinfectant properties, making it valuable in pharmaceuticals, water treatment, and organic synthesis.

Potassium chlorate

Potassium chlorate is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula KClO₃. At room temperature, it appears as a white powder or granular solid and exhibits strong oxidizing properties. Highly sensitive as an explosive component, potassium chlorate can easily detonate when heated or subjected to violent impact. Due to its powerful oxidizing ability, it’s also widely used in rocket fuels and as a key ingredient in fireworks.
